Local residents are being encouraged to “Feel Fabulous” in February with exciting new activities and programmes on offer from the Council.
As part of this month of feeling fabulous, the Council’s leisure partner Aquaterra is offering a range of free exercise classes, pool and gym sessions throughout February.
Local residents will have the opportunity to access a free exercise class each day of the month at their choice of Aquaterra’s five leisure centres in Bath and North East Somerset.
Simply turn up with proof of your home address in Bath and North East Somerset (such as a Resident’s Discovery Card).
They can also enjoy free gym usage across all Aquaterra sites (Bath Sport and Leisure Centre; Keynsham Leisure Centre; Chew Valley Leisure Centre; South Wansdyke Sports Centre and Culverhay Sports Centre) for the weekend of Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd February, and four free one-hour lane swim sessions at each Aquaterra pool site.
Jason Curtis, Head of Operations at Aquaterra said: “Aquaterra offers something for every ability, so February’s ‘Feel Fabulous’ campaign is the perfect opportunity for the whole community to participate and kick start 2014 feeling fit and healthy.
“Why not try something new? From Group Cycle, Aqua Aerobics, Zumba, Body Conditioning to Burlesque Fitness and more. We’ve put together a great timetable of free exercise classes to ensure everyone can get involved. Our brand new gym at South Wansdyke Sports Centre will be available to use for free over the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of February as will our other state-of-the-art gyms.”
Another exclusive offer includes Tai Chi on the Terrace at the Pump Room in Bath.
The martial art, developed in 13th-century China, combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements and is practiced all over the world as a health-promoting exercise.
Free sessions are running on Tuesdays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th February from 8.15-8.45am. Spaces are limited and must be booked by emailing [email protected] or calling 01225 396429.
Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “We all know how hard it can be to stick to those New Year resolutions one month on. Bath & North East Somerset Council and Aquaterra are offering an incredible variety of opportunities for everyone to get active. So come along and give it a go this February – you will feel fabulous, have fun and improve your health, fitness and overall wellbeing.”
