University of Bath rugby player Dom Tripp has been selected to play in the National Touch League in Australia, the biggest domestic touch competition in the world.

Tripp, who studies Sport & Exercise Science, is currently on a year’s work placement at the New South Wales Institute of Sport in the Sydney Olympic Park.

He is taking the opportunity to add to his sporting experience by playing in the New South Wales (NSW) Touch Football Network, the limited-contact sport that developed in Australia during the 1960s where tackling is replaced by a touch.

He competed in the prestigious NSW State Cup during the weekend and has now been picked through the draft system to play for NSW Scorpions in the 2016 National Touch League.

Tripp, who was manager and head coach of the University of Bath Rugby Club’s 3rd and 4th XVs during the 2014-15 season, helped to establish the Bath University Hawks touch team in 2013.

He coached them to success in the first-ever University Touch Nationals in 2014, a title the Hawks retained this year.
