Bath kicked off and came flying out of the traps putting the Bulls under immediate pressure. Bath attacked well and eventually the pressure told and and the Bulls gave away a kickable penalty, After 10 minutes Bath’s pressure paid off and they earned a penalty in front of the posts, which fly half Sarah Holloway kicked for three points.
This proved to be a turning point in the game, and from the re-start Aylesford’s strong runners challenged the home defence. Before long the visitors had broken through for their first try. This was to be the first of many for the Kent-based team, who have made quite an impression in their new league and currently sit top of the table.
With the score at 32-3 at half time, the young Bath side continued to put up a robust defence, but the visitors’ strength and experience managed to overcome them, rounding the home side several more times.
With the score at 65-3, Bath capitalised on a quick penalty and moved the ball to centre Emily Sherwood, who fought through to ground the ball. The try was converted by Sarah Holloway.
To seal an emphatic victory, Aylesford touched down a final time to bring the final score to 10-70.
Despite the unflattering scoreline, Bath Ladies will take away positives from the game and continue to build for the second half of the season.
Their next encounter will see them welcome Cheltenham Ladies to Lambridge on November 11th.
