As the rain poured down across the area, Bath Rugby Ladies had their first wintery encounter at the weekend facing Hove Ladies for the first time this season.
As the game kicked off and the rain continued, the Bath Ladies spent the first 10 minutes putting the visitors under pressure with some aggressive attacking play, and some high pressured defence.
From a quick turnover the home side took advantage of the blind side and some slick handling from the back line put new recruit, Lander, in enough space to make a strong run from outside of the 22, to score her first every try for Bath Rugby Ladies.
After the restart the home team worked their way back up the pitch with a series of strong set pieces and a quick tap penalty in the 22 allowed hooker Hunter to make a superb pass to flanker Floyd whose powerful run allowed her to score, giving Holloway an easy conversion.
But the visitors fought back with some aggressive forward play and it took some precise kicking and speedy chasing from the Bath wingers to get the home side back in their visitors half. Some more solid scrums from Bath gave the backs the perfect platform for Tupuhi and Holloway to work a perfectly timed switch to give Holloway space to score under the posts, and convert her own try.
Half time score: 19-0
The second half continued to be hampered by the cold and the wet and both teams continued to play a close game with some excellent displays of set piece and some aggressive defence from both teams. But the pressure began to tell and the visitors gave away a penalty just within range of Holloway who slotted it over for a further 3 points.
Spurred on by their lead the Bath Ladies were able to keep out the visitors final attack in the closing minutes and Mahoney managed to turn over the ball on the line to allow a dubious clearance, leaving the final score at 22-0.
Forward of the match went to Jen Floyd and Back of the match to one of Baths newest recruits, Naomi Lander.
Bath Rugby Ladies next face Cheltenham away on Sunday 20th October.
