Five young people at Southside Youth Centre in Bath have received certificates and t-shirts in a special ceremony after completing a 6 week HITZ Outreach workout programme.
The programme, run by Bath Rugby Foundation Personal Trainer Becks Toan, encouraged the participants to show commitment to getting fit and seeing a programme through from start to finish.
Every Monday and Wednesday evening, Bath Rugby Foundation runs activity sessions at the Youth Centre providing young people with the opportunity to try a range of sports from rugby to basketball as well as fitness sessions in the gym.
In the gym sessions, the young people can chose to complete sessions targeted at their specific aims i.e. cardiovascular, strength, and toning or functional fitness workouts.
For each week that they attend and complete a workout, the chart on the wall in the gym is signed off by Becks as evidence.
Becks said: “The five participants demonstrated a fantastic effort and commitment to the workouts over a 6 week period. They came in every week, sometimes twice a week and completed a 30 minute superhero functional fitness workout.
“The commitment shown was a credit to them, I was so pleased to be able to present them with their certificates. Well done all.”
The Southside Youth Hub, which features facilities such as a community cafe, soft play area, music suite, ICT and various sports facilities, is one of the many community facilities utilised by Bath Rugby Foundation coaches to engage and interact with the young people of Bath.
Bath Rugby Foundation, the independent charity of Bath Rugby, aims to impact positively on the educational achievement and social interaction of the young people they work with.
Using the power of the Club’s brand; the influence of Bath Rugby players as role models and specially trained coaches, Bath Rugby Foundation coaches work in all areas and sections of the city.
They strive to motivate, raise self esteem, increase confidence and improve life skills, by imparting the values found in rugby – camaraderie, loyalty, discipline and respect.
