The seven-wicket defeat meant the North Parade team were leapfrogged in the standings by the South Gloucestershire outfit, who ripped out the visitors for 140 after electing to field.
Bath were in trouble at 9-2 but Jack Scrivens (10) and Sam Young steadied the ship slightly by putting on 23 for the third wicket.
Young stood firm as wickets fell around him, Bath plummeting to 65-5.
And when Young was caught by Jack Worgan off Josh Thomas for 40 – including six boundaries – from 67 balls, the visitors were in dire straits at 85-6. The situation became bleaker, Bath slumping to 94-8.
Number seven James Arney made 29 from 47 deliveries, last-wicket pair Louis Brown (14) and George Axtell (7 not out) put on 20 and there were 25 extras. But Bath’s 45.1-over total was never going to be enough.
Harry Wormwell led the wicket-taking for Thornbury, grabbing 4-42 off 10 overs. But Worgan’s figures really caught the eye, his 10 overs bringing him three wickets for only 17 runs.
The hosts needed just 17.5 overs to reach their target, closing on 144-3.
Bath ousted opener Thomas Vermaak for a duck. But by the time they claimed their second scalp, Thornbury had 68 runs on the board.
Number three Robbie O’Donnell finished with a spectacular 66 not out from 47 balls, his knock featuring three sixes and 10 fours.
Thomas (34) and Josh Riggs (28) also scored rapidly.
Arney took two wickets but came in for punishment, his five overs going for 46 runs.
Bath could hardly have a tougher game on Saturday 9th August as they aim to get back to winning ways. The visitors to North Parade will be table-topping Bridgwater, who have lost only one league game this season.
