Bath Cricket Club secured back-to-back successes in West of England Premier League Premier One when they saw off Wiltshire side Burbage & Easton Royal in a rain-reduced fixture at North Parade on Saturday 5th July.

Bath made it two wins on the bounce by beating Burbage & Easton Royal in the West of England Premier League

The hosts prevailed by 25 runs, having got the better of Frocester the previous weekend.

Asked to bat, Bath clocked up 184-8 in their 30 overs.

Jack Scrivens and Brad Porteous gave them a solid start, putting on 52 for the opening wicket.

They were separated when Porteous was trapped leg before by James Lavis for 27 off 23 balls.

Scrivens followed shortly afterwards – for a 16-ball 27 – when he was caught off former Somerset star Peter Trego to leave Bath 58-2. However, the wicket was Trego’s lone success with the ball. He proved expensive, finishing with 1-59 from six overs. Scrivens hit two sixes and three fours.

Ben Church’s departure for 11 left the home side 70-3. But Sam Young (30) and captain Harry Ellison steadied the ship by putting on 43 for the fourth wicket.

Bath were 172-7 from 28.6 overs when Ellison was bowled by Adam Ball for 46 from 51 deliveries. Ellison’s knocked included a six and two boundaries.

Lavis was Burbage & Easton’s most successful bowler, snapping up 2-30 in six overs.

The most economic member of the guests’ attack was Tom Wallbridge, with 1-22 from six overs.

Burbage & Easton were in trouble at 70-4 from 13.5 overs of their reply, the veteran Trego lasting only 14 balls and making 9. Skipper David Cope, batting at number two, scored 23.

But it was number five Crofton Keyes who caused Bath the most trouble, with 33 off 45 deliveries. He was removed when he was caught by Matthew Cadywould off Spencer Gammon to leave his team 149-8 after 27.4 overs.

Burbage & Easton were dismissed for 159 in 29.2 overs – Gammon pocketing 3-12 off 5.2 overs – and dropped into the relegation zone.

Cadywould, Will Hope and Joe Heywood each snaffled two wickets.

Bath, who remain in fourth place in the table, will travel to another Wiltshire outfit, Potterne, this Saturday (12th July).
