The special guest hosts have been announced for Peasedown St John’s Party in the Park festival – and this year organisers are keeping it local.

Somer Valley FM’s Pete Helmore, Luke Barnes and the ‘Peasedown Loose Women’ Karen Walker and Jo Davis, will be leaving the studio to help entertain up to 3,000 people on stage at the village event.

Pete and Luke have been a part of the station for many years, and present a number of shows including The Instant Radio Mix with Pete and Gilly, Drivetime with Luke and also Dance Anthems with Luke and Ryan.

As well as a live broadcast from the event all day, they’ll be responsible for keeping the crowd happy for the first part of the event.

Whilst Karen and Jo, who both play a big part within the Peasedown St John community, will be on hand for the second half of the festival with their antics, and hard-hitting hosting style.

Pete, who presents The Instant Radio Mix with Party in the Park Committee member Craig Gill, said; “Somer Valley has been at Party in the Park for as long as I can remember and we love it every year! I’m looking forward to being able to jump on the stage with Luke and hosting the event.”

As a founder member of the station Pete has been a key player in taking Somer Valley FM from a Somervale School project in 2006 to becoming the areas only dedicated broadcasting service. Pete’s wit and radio talent will be a welcome addition to the summer festivities.

Joining him is Somer Valley FM apprentice Luke Barnes, who presents Drivetime, and has been involved in many outside broadcasts and looks after the production of the station.

As well as hosting, they’ll also be broadcasting live on 97.5FM as the event unfolds.

Luke added: “We’ll be live all day from the event, bringing you live music, and much, much more.”

Now in its sixth year, Party in the Park attracts up to 3,000 people each summer and has quickly become one of the most popular family events in the local calendar.

Festival Chairman, Cllr Nathan Hartley said: “This year will be our best yet. We’ve got a full line up of live music, more attractions than ever before, our Grant Giveaway, the Sara Holley Community Award 2014, and performances from Heat, the Worry Dolls and Susan Hill School of Dance.

“And to top it off, we have Peasedown’s very own Loose Women Karen and Jo, presenting. Trust me – you’ll see them like they have never been seen before.”

Party in the Park, sponsored by Bluebird Care, Norton Radstock College, Michael Gould Estate Agents and Bath Audi, officially starts at 12 noon on Saturday 14th June on Beacon Field – with festivities running until 7 pm it includes the Red Post Beer Tent, hog roast, helter skelter, gladiator joust, croquet, face painting, quad bikes and much more.

It will be officially opened by the Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Cllr Martin Veal.
