A serious collision between three vehicles has closed the A46 both ways between the A46 Batheaston Roundabout and A420 Cold Ashton Roundabout, with police warning of long delays.

Emergency crews were called to the crash at around 8.55am, with all three services rushing to the scene in Upper Swainswick, northbound out of Bath.

The collision is affecting traffic heading into and out of Bath and traffic sensors on the M4 are showing that traffic is extremely heavy with long queues on the approach to the closure.

The road was initially closed Northbound, but has now closed both ways.

The Highways Agency have said the road is expected to be closed until 3pm at the earliest.

More soon.
