Last Thursday saw Bath racegoers helped raise almost £500 for the cancer support charity, Look Good Feel Better, at an experience day based on Royal Ascot.
Guests dressed in their finest to enjoy hospitality in ‘The Ascot Ladies Day Experience’ at Bath Racecourse with the event being sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics.
The event has been running at the Lansdown venue for the last 5 years and invites guests to enjoy an afternoon of fetlocks and finery with a three course lunch, charity raffle, Benefit make-overs and goodies, best hat and best dressed lady competitions, all set to an afternoon of racing streamed live from the famous Royal Ascot meeting onto big screen TVs throughout the luxurious paddock marquee.
As part of Benefit’s event sponsorship, Look Good Feel Better were selected as the beneficiary to this year’s charity raffle which included a selection of prizes from generous local businesses.
It is the second time this that Bath Racecourse has been able to support the charity having offered the Benefit team from Boots in Bath free use of the venue for a Look Good Feel Better fashion show and fundraising event in March.
The first Look Good Feel Better workshops were held in the UK in 1994 and to date they have provided support to over 100,000 women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of their cancer treatment.
Their free confidence-boosting skincare and makeup workshops and masterclasses are dedicated to improving the self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing of people undergoing treatment for any sort of cancer.
Jo Hall, Executive Director of Bath Racecourse said: “We’re delighted to help raise funds for such a worthwhile and unique charity.
“Such fundraising activities are in fact part of a wider programme of charitable and community investment initiatives that we undertake throughout the year which include raceday bucket collections, ticket donations for raffles and auctions along with larger charity raceday events.”
The Ascot Ladies Day Experience is just one of the growing number of non-raceday events held at Bath Racecourse which now includes daily use of the venue for a wide range of events from meetings and conferences to festivals and Christmas parties.
