Local residents are being invited by Avon Fire and Rescue to attend the Bath Fire Station open day, and get up close to the life saving vehicles.
If you’ve ever fancied getting up-close and personal with a fire engine, or just want to see what the inside of an operational fire station is really like, then a visit to the station will be a great opportunity.
The Bath Fire Station, on Cleveland Bridge, is throwing its big red doors open to the public on Sunday 21st July between 11am and 3pm.
Firefighters at Bath are specially trained in water rescue and the theme of the open day is water safety, so the Avon Fire & Rescue Service hovercraft will be on show.
Watch Manager, Darren Thomas, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to come and visit their local fire station. We want to show members of the public inside the station and give them the chance to meet some of our staff.
“People are always interested in the fire and rescue service and we hope members of the public will come along to see some of our vehicles and equipment and find out about how they can reduce the risk of fire in their home.”
Visitors will be able to meet firefighters, have a look around the various fire engines, and also see one of Avon Fire & Rescue Service’s boats.
Another attraction is one of the service’s chip pan fire demonstration units; if you have ever doubted just how serious a chip pan fire can be, this will certainly be an eye-opener.
