The next generation of chefs will be learning from the best in the business, thanks to the launch of a new Chefs’ Forum.
City of Bath College has played an active role in setting up the Cotswolds and Bath networking group to encourage students to work with highly-accredited professional chefs.
The aim of the Chefs’ Forum is to unite those in the hospitality industry who have the shared goal of making a positive change.
It will bring together the area’s top chefs, many with Michelin stars and AA Rosettes, to share their knowledge and ideas with those starting out in the industry.
Head of Hospitality Bridget Halford, who is also a Chefs’ Forum committee member, said she hoped young people would be inspired and enthused and professional development bolstered.
She said: “It’s vital that colleges and industry work together and the Chefs’ Forum is key to helping this happen. The Chefs’ Forum is great in getting everyone talking.
“It’s all about working together and sharing good practice for the better of the industry. We hope the professional chefs will act as role models to students.”
The new regional branch of the Chefs Forum was launched earlier this week at The Manor House Hotel at Castle Combe.
The launch event gave VRQ students from City of Bath College the chance to prepare and serve a gourmet barbecue to the very tough audience of about 60 industry professionals.
Michelin-starred chef Richard Davies from The Manor House Hotel said: “The students, although still in training, displayed an impressive level of expertise and professionalism which is a real testament to the standards of teaching in local catering colleges.
“This is a great sign for the industry.”
Chefs’ Forum social networking events will be held every three months to share ideas and discuss the latest trends.
Chefs’ Forum Founder Catherine Farinha said branches of the Chefs’ Forum had boosted the industry across the South West.
She said: “The Chefs’ Forum opens up the communication channels between the catering industry, catering education providers and trade suppliers.
“Our organisation acts as a conduit for all three elements to interact seamlessly for the greater good of the industry”.
