New polling districts across B&NES have been drawn up and published as a result of the changes to the council electoral wards recommended by the Local Boundary Commission for England.

Electors, community groups and any other interested parties in Bath and North East Somerset are being asked to express their views on the new polling districts and make suggestions for any new buildings within their local area which could be used as polling stations at the May 2019 elections.

Last month the LGBCE published its final recommendations on the electoral review of ward boundaries for Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The proposed new arrangements will reduce the number of councillors from 65 to 59, and the number of wards from 37 to 33.

A draft order, the legal document which brings into force the recommendations, will be laid in Parliament in the coming months, and will provide for the new ward arrangements to come into force at the council elections in May 2019.

As a result of the new ward arrangements, the majority of wards in Bath and North East Somerset will change, making it necessary to re-draw the boundaries of the polling districts which form each individual ward, and to identify any polling stations within easy reach of all electors.

Details of the proposed polling districts, along with the relevant maps, can be viewed on the council website: www.bathnes.gov.uk/pollingdistrictreview2018

Copies of the maps are also available for public inspection at the council offices in the following locations:

  • One Stop Shop, Manvers Street, Bath
  • Civic Centre, Market Walk, Keynsham
  • Midsomer Norton Library and Information Service, High Street, Midsomer Norton

Comments and suggestions for venues should be posted to Electoral Services, Bath & North East Somerset Council, Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW, or emailed to [email protected], by no later than Monday 22nd October 2018.

More details on the ward boundary review, including the new ward maps, can be viewed on the LGBCE’s website.
