Residents from across the Bath and North East Somerset area are being asked for their views on B&NES Council’s future priorities and spending plans.
Following two public events in Bath and Keynsham, where cabinet members and the council’s chief executive outlined the authority’s plans, residents are now being given the opportunity to comment on the detailed Corporate Strategy document.
‘Improving People’s Lives’ is the key aim of the council, and the ways in which it will achieve this, alongside addressing the climate emergency and giving people a bigger say, are set out in the plan.
Councillor Dine Romero, council leader, said: “Our draft strategy has been shaped by the conversations we’ve had so far with our Area Forums and at the public events we held in Bath and Keynsham.
“We have a clear purpose – which is improving people’s lives. We also want to focus on addressing the climate emergency and giving people a bigger say in what the council does.
“Our strategy also sets out our commitments under the headings of ‘preparing for the future’, ‘focussing on prevention’ and ‘delivering for local residents’.
Councillor Richard Samuel, deputy council leader, added: “The Corporate Strategy will shape what we do and how we work to improve the lives of residents. Before it’s finalised, we want to hear people’s views as part of our continuing conversation with residents.
“For example, we’ll be carrying out more detailed community engagement on tackling the climate emergency early next year.”

The draft Corporate Strategy will be discussed by the council’s Policy Development and Scrutiny Panels and at area forum meetings in January before a decision is made in February.
The January area forums are:
- Bathavon North – 21st January 7-9pm – Bathampton Methodist Church Hall – Holcombe Lane BA2 6UX (next to the Village Hall)
- Keynsham – 23rd January 6.30-8.30pm – Community Space, Temple St, Keynsham, Bristol BS31 1HA.
