The Stronger in Europe campaign held a public meeting at Saltford Hall on 6th April to present the case for IN in the EU referendum, which counts a number of local councillors among its supporters.

Guest speaker was Jay Risbridger who is the founder of a pioneering enterprise, the Green Stationery Company, based in Bath.

Jay has been a candidate in European elections and is the leader of the “Stronger In Europe Campaign” in Bath and NE Somerset.

In his address, Jay said: “The single most important reason for staying in the EU is to work in partnership with other European countries within a common legal framework.

“The EU is an outstanding achievement in international relations and helps the cause of peace in Europe.”

The “Stronger In Europe campaign” nationally is chaired by businessman Sir Stuart Rose and has support from prominent figures in business, public life, and across the political divide.

Supporting the IN campaign at the Saltford meeting were B&NES Cabinet members Cllr Charles Gerrish and Cllr Anthony Clarke.

Duncan Hounsell, who convened the meeting said: “This issue transcends normal politics. This referendum is more important than any General Election.”
