Residents being urged to check voter details ahead of 2027 elections

Households across Bath and North East Somerset are being asked to check their voter information as part of the council’s annual update of the electoral register.

B&NES Council is contacting residents directly by either email or post, asking them to make sure the details held for their household are correct.

The annual canvass is carried out each year to ensure the electoral register remains accurate and up to date, helping make sure everyone who is eligible to vote is able to take part in future elections.

The latest checks come ahead of elections in Bath and North East Somerset in May 2027, meaning residents are being encouraged to respond when contacted and make any necessary changes to their information.

Emails will be sent by the Electoral Registration Officer. Anyone who is unsure whether a message they receive is genuine can check through the council’s annual canvass webpage or contact its electoral services team directly.

Sophie Broadfield, Electoral Registration Officer for Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Please look out for an email or letter from the council and follow the instructions carefully.

“The annual canvass is an important way of making sure the electoral register is accurate and that everyone who is eligible to vote is able to do so.

“It only takes a few minutes to check your household details, but it makes a real difference.

“Making sure your information is up to date means you won’t lose your chance to have your say in future elections including our next council elections in May next year.”

The council said checking household information should only take a few minutes, but is an important part of keeping the electoral register correct before future polls.

Residents who have questions about the annual canvass or their voter details can contact the electoral services team on 01225 477333 or by emailing [email protected].
