Cllr Karen and Cllr Sarah Bevan, elected to B&NES Council last week in the 2015 election, have said ‘thank you’ to locals for their vote of confidence in their resounding success.

Karen, already a long-serving parish councillor, and elected for the first time to the authority, said: “I am delighted to have been elected to represent Peasedown St John on Bath and North East Somerset council after a positive, grassroots campaign based on issues that matter to local people.

“I can now look forward very much to working with Sarah, our faith and community groups, on projects already in the pipeline.”

Cllr Bevan, elected for a fourth consecutive term, added: “This is truly a great honour given to me by local Peasedown people.

“To be offered a fourth term gives me the opportunity to continue delivering the quality of life residents want and deserve.”

Nathan Hartley, agent and campaign manager for both candidates, and himself a parish and local authority councillor for eight years, concluded: “Karen and Sarah will be a fantastic team for Peasedown.

“Their experience, enthusiasm and track record of getting things done will ensure that the village continues to move forward. Their election victory means that our great community continues to be in safe hands.”

Cllr Walker’s speciality on the parish council includes planning issues and wider development control policy.

She is also a local business woman, familiar with the issues facing small businesses.

Cllr Bevan’s focus has included road danger awareness and the installation of road safety measures throughout the village.

She was recently invited to become a Trustee of the road danger awareness and lobbying national charity RoadPeace.

The two councillors will now join the five strong, non politically aligned group on Bath and North East Somerset council, and will therefore be instrumental in negotiations with the other groups to obtain the best possible outcomes for Peasedown St John residents.
