It was announced on Friday last week that the December meeting of the Cabinet of Bath and North East Somerset Council has been cancelled, meaning no decision will be taken on the site of the East of Bath Park and Ride this year.
Councillor Alison Millar (Bathavon North) commented: “The Cabinet have said on numerous occasions that a decision on the Park and Ride site would be taken this year.
“Now that the December meeting has been cancelled, this is clearly not going to happen. Does this mean that the case for the park and ride on the Meadows is falling apart?
“There is enormous opposition to building on Bathampton Meadows, from residents from the East of Bath and the city. The Conservatives need to stop ignoring the strength of public opinion and drop this wholly inappropriate plan.”
“I want to know why consideration is not being given to the concept of link and rides, which are already unofficially operating on sites close to bus stops?
“Why is nothing being done to improve the bus service and help families get their children to school, which would reduce traffic without the need to tarmac over the Meadows?”
