The Bath City Forum has recently progressed by appointing the thirteen community representatives that will work with local councillors from B&NES Council in a bid to continue to improve the City of Bath.
These “co-opted” members have been selected from the 34 local people who applied for the roles, and will bring to the Forum a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge of the local area to help address local priorities.
The new members will take their places at the next meeting of the Forum on Thursday 21st January.
Councillor Bob Goodman, Chairman of the Bath City Forum, said: “Choosing the co-opted members for the Forum has been a difficult task because of the wide range of talent and experience that the selection Panel had before them when making their decisions.
“However, I am delighted that we have been able to bring together such a diverse and committed team who come from such a wide range of walks of life and communities across our City.
“I am sure that working together we will find new solutions to the challenges that Bath faces.”
In line with the Forum’s aim of focusing on key issues for the City, the meeting will identify the impact of the increase on student numbers, looking at positive ways to work together to address housing issues and maximising the benefits that students can bring to our area.
The Forum will also be establishing Task and Finish Groups so councillors and co-optees can work together on key topics, including the impact of development in local communities.
Details about the members of the Forum can be found online at the Member Profiles webpage.
The Forum meeting on 21st January will also host an open session from 5.15pm with Chief Inspector Kevin Thatcher of Avon and Somerset Police, who will update on local issues.
If you wish to raise a local Policing matter at this session, you can contact the forum via [email protected].
Members of the public are welcome to attend all Forum meetings and further information is available via the Council’s website.
The new Bath City Forum, which was established by Bath & North East Somerset Council last year, will consider the key issues affecting the City and will assist and advise the Council on issues specific to Bath.
