Ben Howlett, the MP for Bath, recently visited the Department for Transport to present a petition containing 1100 signatures calling for a new Junction 18A on the M4 to Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport.
Ben was joined in the presentation by fellow West Country MPs Chris Skidmore, Luke Hall and Jack Lopresti.
Following the meeting, Ben said: “A new junction 18A on the M4 will serve Emersons Green which is already growing at significant rates.
“Importantly, it will enhance the potential of the Bristol & Bath Science Park and enable it to become a regional hub for science, research and innovation.
“It will provide a quicker route for students and academics travelling to the Science Park, allowing them to avoid traveling along the congested Keynsham or Wick routes.
“I hope that the Department for Transport takes the number of signatures on the petition as a clear sign that both the region supports this new infrastructure and understands that it is crucial for the economic development of the wider West of England area.”
