The people of Bath have chosen Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat, as the new MP for the city after the results of yesterday’s election were announced in the early hours of this morning.
The Liberal Democrat candidate won with a majority of 5,694 – receiving 47.3% of votes across the Bath constituency.
Former Bath MP Ben Howlett received 17,742 votes (35.8%), a decrease of 0.51% compared to 2015.

The overall turnout was 49,582, 74.3% of those eligible to vote in Bath. The number of rejected ballot papers was 112.
Wera Hobhouse said: “I’m so honoured that you have chosen me to represent you. I will work hard to be an MP for the whole city including those who don’t currently get their fair share of our city’s prosperity.
“I look forward to serving this city as Don Foster did so well for 23 years.”
