Bath & North East Somerset Council has won a national award for its Parking Services annual report, being recognised for their approach to transparency.

The annual PATROL awards recognise councils who have published the best reports on their parking services, as part of their civil enforcement reporting.

The Government expects and encourages local authorities to produce a Civil Enforcement Annual Report, however this is not compulsory.

Cllr Anthony Clarke, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport said: “We are delighted that our report has won this award, demonstrating that our efforts to achieve transparency are recognised nationally.

“Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Parking Services team works hard to ensure the public is fully informed of how parking operates right across Bath and North East Somerset, engaging with local communities and ensuring that the website is up-to-date so that members of the public can find the information they need.”

Councillor Jamie Macrae, Chair of the PATROL Joint Committee, said of Bath North East Somerset Council:  “It’s a pleasure to be able to recognise those local authorities who have proactively sought to publish information about their traffic management objectives to raise public awareness and understanding of civil parking enforcement.

“Bath & North East Somerset’s win is a testament to their dedication to providing open and localised information about their services.”

PATROL (Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London) represents over 300 Local Authorities in England and Wales and promotes improved public information and transparency in local authority reporting through the production of annual reports.
