Bath & North East Somerset Council has announced a number of revisions to the portfolio responsibilities of some of the authority’s Cabinet Members.

The Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Cllr Tim Warren, has decided to reallocate the portfolio responsibilities that were previously held within a Community Services portfolio to existing Cabinet Members.
The revisions to portfolio responsibilities mean that:
- Cllr Mark Shelford (Conservative, Lyncombe) is now the Cabinet member for Transport & Environment. This includes responsibility for highways, transport policy, public transport, parking, traffic management and road safety, as well as sustainability, flood management and resilience.
- Cllr Bob Goodman (Conservative, Combe Down) is now the Cabinet Member for Development & Neighbourhoods. This includes responsibility for planning policy, building control and planning enforcement, as well as waste collections, street cleaning, parks, leisure, licensing, public protection and bereavement services.
- Cllr Karen Warrington (Conservative, Clutton) is now the Cabinet Member Transformation & Customer Services. This includes responsibility for cross-council service transformation as well as libraries, One Stop Shops and Customer Services.
The remaining portfolios remain unchanged as:
- Cllr Charges Gerrish (Conservative, Keynsham North) – Cabinet Member for Finance & Efficiency, including resources, budgeting, finance and property.
- Cllr Paul Myers (Conservative, Midsomer Norton Redfield) – Cabinet Member for Economic & Community Regeneration, including economic development, regeneration, culture, heritage, tourism, housing and community forums.
- Cllr Paul May (Conservative, Publow & Whitchurch) – Cabinet Member for Children & Young People, including Early Years services, Children’s Centres, children’s social care, education and youth services.
- Cllr Vic Pritchard (Conservative, Chew Valley South) – Cabinet Member for Adult Care & Health, including adult social care, public health and community wellbeing.
The Cabinet is the main decision making body for dealing with the Council’s executive functions. Their decisions may be made collectively or individually by Cabinet Members, and are subject to scrutiny from the Council’s overview and scrutiny bodies and from individual councillors.
Executive decisions are those that are concerned with implementing major policies agreed by the Council and setting new service policies.
