Residents living in Peasedown St John will have the chance to find out more about the proposed changes to the way B&NES Council is run at a special meeting next week.
Phil Raby, on behalf of the ‘Yes Campaign’, and Robin Moss, on behalf of the ‘No Campaign’ will speak at a hustings event on Tuesday 1st March at 7pm at the Prince of Wales Inn, Dunkerton Hill, Peasedown St John.
Over 140,000 residents will be given the chance to vote on whether they’d like to replace the current Leader-model of Local Government with an elected Mayor on Thursday 10th March, during a district-wide polling day.
Voters will be asked:
How would you like Bath & North East Somerset Council to be run?
By a leader who is an elected councillor chosen by a vote of the other elected councillors.
This is how the council is run now.
OR
By a mayor who is elected by voters.
Peasedown St John councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan (Independent) are supporting option 2, a mayor elected by voters.
