Bath MP Ben Howlett has been interviewed by Avon and Somerset Police following an allegation of sexual assault in the city earlier this year.

Mr Howlett voluntarily attended a police station and was questioned under caution by detectives.

The incident is alleged to have happened after a Eurovision results party in Bath back in May this year.

The Sun newspaper reported that Ben arrived at the party with a couple of bottles of red wine and “got quite drunk”.

The group Mr Howlett were with later went to the Sub 13 cocktail bar in the city centre, and then onto the Common Room bar where the sexual assault on a gay couple is claimed to have taken place.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A man in his thirties voluntarily attended a police station for interview following an allegation of sexual assault. Enquiries are ongoing.”
