Avon and Somerset Police say they have begun investigating a report of two men with northern accents in a white van seen acting suspiciously in Bath.

Reports on Twitter and Facebook claimed that men in a van had attempted to take a woman on Tuesday night.

However, today police have said that the only report they’ve received is that of a van pulling up next to a woman and shouting at her. It then drove off.

The van was seen driving around the Newton Road area of Twerton.

Neighbourhood police officers carried out patrols of the area yesterday afternoon and will be doing so again today.

Officers would ask anyone with information about the men and their vehicle to call Bath police on 101.
