Police are appealing for information about an attempted robbery on a 25-year-old woman walking home alone in the early hours of yesterday morning, Thursday 8th May.

She was at the junction of Wells Road and Hayesfield Park at around 1am when a man crossed the road, came up behind her and grabbed her bag she was wearing over her shoulder and across her body.

He was unable to take the bag or any property and ran off down the Wells Road towards the city centre.

The woman was shocked but otherwise unhurt.

The man is described as white, 5ft 8ins-5ft 10ins tall and of medium build.

He had short dark hair and was clean shaven and was wearing a dark hooded with a zip at the front and blue jeans.

Anyone who may have seen the incident, or saw a man in the area at the time, is asked to contact Bath CID on 101 quoting crime reference number 45681/14.
