The Council’s Economic & Community Development Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel have invited Sue Mountstevens, Police & Crime Commissioner to speak on 18th July 2013.

The Chair of the Panel, Councillor Robin Moss said: “a key element of the panels work is how B&NES continues to work with the Police to make our communities safer, and we welcome Sue Mountstevens as part of that discussion. Crime statistics continue to improve, B&NES is a safe place to live & work, and the more we can do to continue that progress the better.”

The Vice-Chair of the Panel, Councillor Cherry Beath (who will be chairing this meeting), explained that: “the Economic & Community Development Panel examines a range of issues including community safety. We are delighted that Sue Mountstevens will be addressing the panel on the 18th July. We hope that the Police & Crime Commissioner will be able to talk through her priorities for the local area. In doing so, we can feedback any local concerns, ensuring that we can move forward, together in partnership.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said: “I am looking forward to hearing from Councillors and residents and updating them both on Bath and North East Somerset’s first Police and Crime Plan.

“It is the first time that Bath and North East Somerset has had its own dedicated plan, setting out my priorities for the coming year and exactly how the police will tackle the things that matter most to local residents.

“My role goes beyond policing and includes community safety commissioning and ensuring an efficient and effective criminal justice system. This can only be done in partnership with local councillors and communities. By working effectively together in Bath and North East Somerset we can all deliver better outcomes for residents.”

The Panel meeting will be held at the Council Chamber, Guildhall, Bath at 1pm 18th July 2013. The Council encourages the public to take an interest in its affairs and give them an opportunity to tell Councillors directly at meetings about things that concern them.

People are welcome to speak for up to 3 minutes at any open public meeting of the Council. If people wish to speak or give a statement, they are asked to give advance notice to the Council no later than 5pm Monday 15th July 2013.

Members of the public are invited to submit written statements, or give advance notice of wanting to speak on 01225 394452, or to email [email protected]
