Update: 10/10/13 – 11.29am: Brian O’Dell has been located by police officers and is now back in prison.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing to the public for help in locating a 49-year-old man who has absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire.

Brian O’Dell was last seen at the prison just before midday yesterday (Wednesday 9th October).

He is a white male, 6ft 3ins tall, blue eyes, balding hair and was clean shaven.

He has a scar on the right side of his neck and a bulldog tattoo on his left forearm.

He was in prison for offences of violence and if sighted should not be approached by members of the public.

Instead call police on 101 or 999 if there are any immediate concerns.
