Avon and Somerset Police in Bath are trying to trace a man who witnessed a black security guard at Waitrose being racially abused.

They want to talk to him about the incident on Wednesday 22nd January at around 2.55pm.

It’s believed he saw what happened and advised the security guard to report the matter to the police.

The guard had been moving on a group of homeless people who were drinking alcohol outside the store.

One man, white and in his late 30s to early 40s, was racially abusive to him.

The witness, or anyone else who saw what happened, is asked to call Bath police on 101 quoting crime reference number 7412/14.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
