In May 2025 Bath & North East Somerset Council approved detailed repair work to a Georgian column at the Thermae Bath Spa after it was severely damaged by a lorry during the Christmas Market.

Now there are proposals to repair and restore the seven other exterior columns where damage over the years is said to have been “unsympathetically repaired” with modern filler.

That will be removed, and the columns will then be assessed, stabilised, cleaned and repaired with appropriate materials.

In granting listed building consent last week, the council said the proposals are an acceptable alteration that will preserve the listed building’s significance.
