The proposal to reinstate the original pair of three-storey semi-detached houses was submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council over the summer.
The planning application was accompanied by one seeking listed building consent for the conversion.
The Grade II listed property on London Road West dates from around 1825 with some late 19th century alterations.
The planning application said the 15-bed hotel has direct competition from the large Bailbrook House Hotel immediately next door and is sited outside of the city, where many visitors arrive without cars and increasingly make use of Airbnb-type accommodation and more centrally located hotels.
Reinstating the original two houses will involve minor changes – reversing the knock-through, removing some ensuites and providing a new doorway.
The existing parking facilities will be kept. There are likely to be fewer trips to and from the site as the users will be reduced from a number of staff and guests to two households.
Any redundant commercial signage will be removed.
