Curo says it intends to begin knocking down the derelict Tintagel Close block in Keynsham in the new year.

Tintagel Close in Keynsham
The social housing provider and developer will be holding an information session on Wednesday 19th November, from 3.30pm to 6pm, at Queens Road Methodist Church for people to find out about how the 1960s maisonettes will be demolished and new homes constructed on the site.
The 44 three-bed maisonettes had been deemed “no longer fit for purpose” by Curo, and all tenants have been rehoused.
Curo’s redevelopment plans were approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council in March and the 45 new properties will all be available for social rent.
There will be a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including several properties adapted for wheelchair users.
All the new homes will have dedicated parking and an electric vehicle charging point. Each home will use an energy-efficient heating system, with air source heat pumps for houses and a combined heat pump/electric panel system for flats. The properties will have solar panels which will also help to keep bills down.
The redevelopment also includes planting a wide range of trees – including fruit trees – and adding more seating, creating more usable green space for local residents.
EG Carter & Co Ltd has been appointed by Curo as the contractor.
The actual demolition will begin in January, but some minor works will start before then, says Curo.
