Crane required for proposed work at iconic Royal Crescent hotel

An application has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council to install a replacement air conditioning unit on the roof of the Royal Crescent Hotel.

A crane will be required on the Royal Crescent for the work

The application for listed building consent says the unit is currently not operational, and until replaced, the five suites it serves remain without air management and ventilation.

To avoid the need for internal alterations, the proposals include using a mobile crane to lift and manoeuvre the replacement unit into place within the central roof valley gutter of No.15 Royal Crescent.

A road closure, estimated between three and four hours, will be required on the Crescent to allow for the work, the council is advised.
