Planning permission has been granted for a self-build detached house in the grounds of a property at Englishcombe.

The new four-bed house will replace a go-kart-style racetrack in the garden of Grove House at Englishcombe Road.
The site is in the Green Belt. Bath & North East Somerset Council planners said that the racetrack is considered to be previously developed land, and redevelopment is acceptable, provided it does not cause harm to the openness of the Green Belt.
The officers added: “The site is located outside the urban area of Bath and is not within a defined settlement. Such sites are not primarily sought for new residential development.
“However, the new dwelling would be approximately a six-minute walk away from bus stops, nursery, GP surgery and a school, and less than a 10-minute walk to Tesco, via Padleigh Hill.
“The road is relatively steep, unlit and has no pavements. Therefore, future occupiers would be reliant on the car for journeys, especially in the dark.
“However, considering the site is located only 0.3km from the urban area of Bath, and the identified services above, officers would not consider the site to be unsustainable.”
The new property will have parking for four cars.
