Cellnex UK Limited has lodged a planning application for a 5G mobile base at Beechen Cliff School at Bear Flat for mobile network operator EE in conjunction with Mobile Broadband Network Limited.

EE already has telecommunications equipment on the main roof of the building, providing 4G coverage to the area around Lyncombe Hill and Beechen Cliff.

The plans are to install, replace and remove certain items of equipment to maintain and enhance 4G with the addition of 5G network coverage to the benefit of the local area.

The proposed upgrade includes two new rooftop antenna support poles, complete with radio antennas, which will replace two existing ones, along with the installation of a small GPS Node on one of the poles.

A rooftop handrail to improve safety and access for maintenance is also proposed.

The planning reference is 25/04239/FUL and the deadline for comments is 5th December.
