Locals residents came together on the last Saturday before Christmas to attend Peasedown St John’s fifth Christmas in the Park event, and to commemorate the centenary of the start of WWI.
Organised by members of the award-winning Party in the Park festival team, Christmas in the Park featured live music and carols from the 20-piece Bath Spa Brass Band, hot food and drink, and a visit from Father Christmas.
Sing-a-longs were led by singer Chloe Veale, and the event compered by local councillor, Nathan Hartley.
This year, to commemorate the centenary of the start of World War I, Peasedown Christians Together performed ‘Christmas Nativity 1914’ – a short play that showcased life in the trenches on that famous Christmas Day when both sides of the conflict stopped fighting to play football.
Event Secretary, Cat Savage said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to Christmas in the Park this year. It was fantastic to see so many people of all ages join in with this magical event.
“Whether it was the sound of carols being sung, the smell of mulled wine, or the sight of children queuing up to see Santa, everyone certainly felt the yuletide spirit.
“We were also treated to a short snow shower during the evening too.”
The festivities were sponsored by Bath Audi, Michael Gould Estate Agents, Bijok Associates, Valley View Garage, Bluebird Care, Bath Theatrical Costume Hire and Norton Radstock College.
Festival team member, Craig Gill, added: “We wouldn’t be able to host Peasedown’s biggest Christmas event if it wasn’t for the support of local businesses and organisations.
“All of our sponsors play a big role in ensuring that this event can happen – to them, we are very thankful.”
Christmas in the Park is a family event, for people of all ages, and was held on Saturday 20th December, from 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm at Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John.
The Chairman of Peasedown St John Parish Council, Cllr Andrew Fraser, also came along to take part in the Christmas fun.
