Almost 100 children in Peasedown St John have taken part in a free holiday club this week at St John’s Church.

Hosted by Peasedown Churches Together, the ‘Space Academy’ holiday club was full of games, crafts, music, video presentations and Bible stories as children learnt about the story of Daniel and his wacky adventures.

Rob Bubyer, the children’s worker at St John’s Church organised the three-day event.

He said: ‘‘Our annual church holiday clubs are proving to be more popular every year. This year’s was no different, with 100 children coming along for fun and activities. Many children dressed up in various outfits, and made very impressive aliens.”

The St J’s Group will also be hosting two weeks of ‘Fun in the Sun’ activities for children in Wellow and Shoscombe in August. Run by the Football in the Community coach Andy Stockinger, highlights include ‘Water Slide Thursday’ and ‘Pizza Friday’. He commented:

“The St J’s Group of churches are providing activities for children in Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe throughout the summer. Our holiday clubs are in addition to the work we are doing in village primary schools to educate and enthuse children. There is something for everyone this summer. Come along to find out more.”

The Fun in the Sun Holiday Clubs are for children in school years 1-7 (from September 2013) and will feature sports, craft and teaching.

Wellow Village Hall, Monday 19th August – Friday 23rd August 9am – 3pm each day. Cost is £10 per day or £45 for the week.

Shoscombe Primary School, Tuesday 27th August – Friday 30th August 9am – 3pm each day. Cost £10 per day or £35 for the week.
