Local residents are being invited to Beacon Hall in Peasedown St John for the village’s fifth Christmas in the Park celebration in December.

Organised by members of the award-winning Party in the Park festival team Christmas in the Park will feature live music and carols from the 20-piece Bath Spa Brass Band, hot food and drink, and a visit from Father Christmas.

This year, to commemorate the centenary of the start of World War I, Peasedown Christians Together will perform ‘Christmas Nativity 1914’ – a short play that showcases life in the trenches on that famous Christmas Day when both sides of the conflict stopped fighting to play football.

Joy Fraser is one of the organisers. She commented: “Our events each Christmas attract almost 300 people. They are always great evenings for the whole family and, if they aren’t already, people are certain to leave feeling the festive spirit.

“We’re creating a magical feel to Christmas in the Park with Santa’s Grotto, Christmas music, mulled wine and we can even guarantee a bit of snow as well.”

The festivities are being sponsored by Bath Audi, Michael Gould Estate Agents, Bijok Associates, Valley View Garage, Bluebird Care, Bath Theatrical Costume Hire and Norton Radstock College.

Julian Drew, Head of Business at Bath Audi is delighted to be supporting the event. The car dealership is specifically sponsoring Santa’s Grotto.

Julian said: “Bath Audi is always pleased to support family events like this. As a part of the Peasedown St John community we are keen to take part.

“I wish all those attending Christmas in the Park an enjoyable evening.”

There are still opportunities for local businesses and organisations to sponsor Christmas in the Park.

Those that do will be featured on the event website, Facebook page, mentioned during the evening by the Master of Ceremonies and promoted on newsletters distributed to those who attend.

For more details contact Fundraising Manager, Mike Auton on 07862 253514 or email [email protected].

Christmas in the Park is a family event, for people of all ages, on Saturday 20th December, from 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm at Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John.

The Chairman of Peasedown St John Parish Council, Cllr Andrew Fraser will be taking part in the Christmas fun.

He said: “The organisers of this event work hard every year to put on an evening that won’t be forgotten.

“As the biggest event on the village’s Christmas calendar, it’s a fantastic opportunity to take time out from the hectic schedule of buying presents and decorating the house, and spend time with friends and family.”

Event-goers are asked to wrap up warm and bring a torch. The event will take place inside if wet. Children are invited to come along dressed as a shepherd or angel.

The PA for the event will be provided by St John’s Church. For more details visit the festival website at www.peasedownpartyinthepark.org.uk.
