There’s just days to go until Peasedown St John’s biggest annual event, the 6th Party in the Park village festival, which will take place this Saturday.
Sponsored by Michael Gould Estate Agents, Bath Audi, Norton Radstock College and Bluebird Care, up to 3,000 people are expected to come along to enjoy 7 hours of live music and entertainment.
There’ll also be a huge array of stalls and attractions, the return of the Peasedown Diamond cider, the results of the Party in the Park Grant Giveaway, and to chance to find out who has won this year’s Sara Holley Community Award.
Tim Rowland-Jones, Managing Director of Bluebird Care Bath & North East Somerset, said: “Organisers have been working very hard to ensure this year’s Party in the Park is the best yet.
“Bluebird Care is always keen to support events that made a positive impact in the community, which is why we are pleased to be one of the 2014 official sponsors.”
The headline act for the festival is ‘Heat’ at 3pm, who impressed fans so much last year with their eclectic mix that they’ll be returning for a second year.
Other performers on the Main Stage, which has been sponsored by Peasedown St John Parish Council, include Whytehouse, Worry Dolls, Susan Hill School of Dance, the Bath Spa Brass Band, DJ Pete Bailey from Somer Valley FM and this year’s and the Victoria Hall Battle of the Bands winner – Rivers of England.
Peasedown’s Nathan Hartley is the chairman of the event team. He commented: “We are hoping to top the last five festivals and put on a show never seen before in Peasedown St John.
“The team has worked exceptionally hard this year. We have almost 60 attractions, more than 50 volunteers signed up to make sure things run smoothly, and have smashed our fundraising target of £3,000 which we need to host the event.
“The eight volunteer members of the management team have contributed more than 200 hours of time to ensure Peasedown’s Party in the Park lives up to its already positive reputation.”
Cllr Martin Veal, the Chairman of B&NES Council, will officially open the festivities just before 12.15 pm and announce the first act.
To add extra excitement to the proceedings, this year’s Special Guest Hosts have been confirmed as Pete Helmore and Luke Barnes from Somer Valley FM, and Peasedown’s very own Loose Women, Karen Walker and Jo Davis, who present a radio show as the local station.
Ben Curd, from Radstock-based Out of the Can Productions will be on hand recording footage for the new Party in the Park promotional film.
During the day, festival attendees will be able to share their Festival Feelings and Flashbacks with the help of social media.
Craig Gill, who looks after the events website and social media campaign, said: “Those that attend will be given a special Twitter hash-tag so they can send messages through to the stage management team, and will be given details of how to upload their mobile phone pictures onto Facebook of the event as it happens.”
Peasedown St John’s Party in the Park festival will be held on Saturday 14th June on Beacon Field, French Close, from 12 noon – 7 pm.
Parking is limited around Orchard Way so people are encouraged to walk or use public transport. B&NES Council has granted a road closure for French Close for the duration of the event which will be facilitated by the Paulton Army Cadets.
