Over two hundred villagers enjoyed hot food, mulled wine and music from the 20-piece Bath Spa Brass Band at Peasedown’s fourth Christmas in the Park last week.
Held at Beacon Hall in Peasedown St John last Thursday, it was organised by members of the award-winning Party in the Park festival team.
As well as a special visit from Father Christmas, the Nativity story was performed by members of Peasedown St John Methodist Church.
Peasedown community activist and parish councillor Jo Davis was one of the organisers.
She said: “We wanted to hold a Christmas event that brought the community together. Similar to Party in the Park, we wanted to give people the chance to meet their neighbours and make new friends. The evening certainly did all of this with its magical feel.”
Throughout the evening all children were given a chance to visit Santa’s grotto – completely free, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Bath Audi who provided funding to purchase more than 120 gifts for all primary school aged children.
Chairman of Peasedown St John Parish Council, Cllr Andrew Fraser, came along to join in with the festivities.
Event Secretary, Cat Savage added: “I’d like to thank everyone for coming to Christmas in the Park. Because hundreds of people from the community supported us we were able to celebrate Christmas in style and are looking forward to holding the event again next year.
“We would also like to thank the organisations who sponsored us, whose support was invaluable – B&NES Council, Lilley’s Cider Barn and Bath Audi.”
Christmas in the Park was held on Thursday 19th December in Peasedown St John and is part of the Party in the Park brand.
The PA equipment was provided by St John’s Church.
