Dead grass and mud will be a thing of the past when new grass reinforcement grids are installed in Mount Road, thanks to action by local Lib Dem Councillors.

Beehive Green, opposite the Co-operative food store, has for years been used as an unofficial parking area for residents visiting Mount Road shops.
This has led to the grass being killed off, leaving bare ground and mud in wet weather.
Local Councillors Dine Romero and Paul Crossley have arranged for plastic reinforcement grids to be installed in the green space.
The grids are partially buried in the ground and help reduce the wear and tear, whilst still allowing the grass to grow and normal mowing and maintenance to take place.
Councillor Dine Romero (Liberal Democrat) commented: “We arranged for these grass reinforcement grids to be installed after residents told us they wanted this area to be tidied up.
“The grids will help protect the grass, so cars – and even lorries – can continue to park and the green will still look good. I’m delighted that work is now starting to install the grids.”
Councillor Paul Crossley (Liberal Democrat) added: “We recognise that a large number of Mount Road customers come by car, hence the wear and tear on the Beehive Green.
“This new provision will be good for the Green and good for the local traders. We are also taking this opportunity to look at reinforcing the 2 hour waiting limit to make sure this area is kept available to shoppers and is not used for long-stay parking.”
