People living in Peasedown St John, Wellow and Shoscombe will have lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities this Harvest.
Anglican churches in all three parishes, which make up the St J’s Group, have put together an action-programme over the Harvest weekend.
Leader of all three parishes, Revd Matthew Street, said: “Harvest is the time of the year we can all come together to thank God for our food, and all the gifts the land around us provides from clothing to furniture.
“Whether you are two years old, or 102 years old, come along to one of our Harvest celebration events this year.”
Harvest is on Sunday 29th September, with the following events taking place:
- 10 am – Harvest All Age Worship – St James’ Church Foxcote
- 10.30 am – Soul Food Lite – St John’s Church, Peasedown St John
- 11.15 am – Harvest Praise – St Julian’s Church, Wellow
- 4.30 pm – Soul Food Xtreme (including games and activities for children and young people) – Peasedown Youth Centre
The Harvest theme across all the churches this year will be ‘Dare to be different’ with a special focus on the biblical passage Romans 21: 1-21 – where St Paul encourages Christians to stand out from the crowd and to make a difference in their communities.
Matthew added: “This powerful message from the Bible calls us to humbly serve God, and to serve everyone we meet, whether they are family, friends or people that live in our neighbourhood.
“Just as Harvest can make a difference by the food and produce it provides, we can also make a difference to those around us by the way we treat them, and setting a positive example by the lives we lead.”
