Older people living in Peasedown St John were invited to a free Christmas lunch last Friday, organised and hosted by the village’s Residents’ Association.
Featuring a traditional festive Christmas meal and entertainment provided by local performer Roy Coates, this was the second year running the association has hosted the event.
Local councillor Nathan Hartley, who was part of the organising team, said: “We really appreciate the role that older people play in Peasedown, and the contribution they’ve made to village life over the years, so decided to cook them a Christmas meal.
“Thanks to the hard work, and sweat in the kitchen, of Joy Gosz, Georgia White and Rose Timperley, more than 30 meals were cooked and enjoyed by those that came along.”
Peasedown St John Residents Association also celebrated the end of a successful year.
Led by its Chairwomen, Joy Gosz, they have organised two outside events, a film night, children’s party and meal for the elderly.
They’ve also secured funding from various organisations, planted flower bulbs and trees, and held a public consultation on what residents would like to see on ‘The Green’.
They’ve also arranged for a new cooker and PC to be installed in St John’s Close Hall, and are in talks with Curo about use of public buildings.
The Peasedown St John Residents’ Association Older Person’s Christmas meal was held on Friday 19th December, at 1 pm at St John’s Close Hall.
