For people who want to improve their mental wellbeing, help is now even closer at hand thanks to a new service being launched across Bath and North East Somerset.
The Community Links service, run by Sirona care & health, has set up peer-led support groups every weekday at venues across the district.
People who live in isolation or who suffer depression or anxiety can now find help to improve their health and mental wellbeing at group meetings, a weekly social drop-in group or even as part of an allotment project.
To mark World Mental Health Day on Friday, October 10th, and the launch of the latest Wellbeing Group, in Bath city centre, Community Links staff are holding a coffee morning at the group’s base at Percy Community Centre, New King Street, from 11am-1pm.
There will also be a coffee morning at The Town Hall, The Island, Midsomer Norton, from 11am to 1pm on Friday October 10th.
Shirley Reynolds, manager of the service in Bath, said: “The service is aimed at anyone who wishes to promote their health and mental wellbeing and we would like to invite people to come along for coffee and cake and have a chat about the exciting new Bath Wellbeing Group.”
Sue Barrow, manager of the service in North East Somerset, said many people can face mental health issues for a range of reasons, such as loss of employment, bereavement, divorce or illness.
She said: “Community Links aims to raise awareness around health and mental wellbeing and this is initially being promoted by arranging several new peer-led groups across the Bath and North East Somerset region.”
