Leading Bath-based chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has announced that Susannah Adams has been made a partner in the practice.

Susannah became a partner on 1st May and now heads the firm’s growing corporate finance offering.

She joined Milsted Langdon in 2008, as Senior Manager in the corporate finance team from a similar sized regional player in Oxford with whom she qualified as a chartered certified accountant (ACCA) and began her career in corporate finance.

She joined Milsted Langdon in response to a sharp rise in the firm’s corporate finance workload, and assisted with the delivery of nine corporate transactions in her first year.

Notwithstanding the general slowdown in corporate transactions when the financial crisis took hold in 2009 Milsted Langdon remained a key player in the market, typically ranking in the top three in the South West by transaction volume.

Susannah said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been made a partner in this forward-thinking and responsive firm. With our quality corporate finance offering we have always been a key player, but rather too low key.

“In my new role, I will be looking to promote and further establish the department as a regional leader.

“I will also be looking to encourage more family run businesses, which make up a significant percentage of our client base, to consider succession planning at a much earlier stage.

“Surprisingly few family businesses give much thought to what will happen when the business needs to be passed on or sold, often because it still seems a long way off, when in fact earlier planning can save a great deal of stress and heartache further down the line.

“This is something I will be having greater involvement in as a partner.”

Milsted Langdon partner Nigel Fry said: “Over the years, we have been growing our corporate finance offering, particularly as an increasing number of businesses are finding it difficult to obtain funding from more traditional sources such as the banks.

“Since joining us six years ago, Susannah has played a key role in helping us achieve this growth, handling a number of large and often complex transactions and developing a strong reputation for the standard of her work. Therefore, it is a logical progression that she should become a partner in the firm.

“We are delighted that she will now be heading our corporate finance department, further strengthening an already strong team.”
