Nathan Dixon, the man convicted of stabbing a childhood friend in Gay Street in April, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Dixon appeared at Bristol Crown Court yesterday having been convicted last month of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison for GBH with intent.
On Sunday 7th April 2013, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in Gay Street and left with serious injuries.
He was taken to the Royal United Hospital and following surgery was discharged from hospital. Nathan Dixon was arrested that morning and taken into custody and subsequently charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The trial began on Monday 12th August and Dixon was convicted by a jury of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
A second man who also stood trial was found not guilty by the jury.
Detective Inspector Julie Mackay, who lead the team that investigated this offence, said: “I hope today is a bleak day for Nathan Dixon as he contemplates spending the next few years of his life in jail. His victim was enjoying a Saturday night out in Bath when he was stabbed several times and it was thanks to some excellent work by medics that the outcome was not even more serious.
“Nathan Dixon is a dangerous man and I welcome the lengthy prison sentence he has been given. This case shows that we will take reports of knife crime seriously and will work hard to bring offenders to justice wherever and whenever violence occurs.”
