Students will be showcasing their skills to try to grab the attention of some of the south west’s biggest names in the music industry.
The ‘Twenty One’ music and visual exhibition aims to give students at City of Bath College the chance to secure work as their course draws to a close.
The young producers, DJs and MCs will be showing industry experts what they can do from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday (15th May).
The 20 Music Technology Level 3 students have organised the event themselves to share their talents in areas such as music sequencing, sound recording, acoustics, composition and DJing.
The aim is to give students the chance to network and share their music and digital profile with industry professionals, performers, producers, promoters and record labels.
Ginny Saunders, Music Lecturer at City of Bath College, said she hoped the electronic end-of-year musical showcase would become an annual event.
She said “It’s a celebration of students to show others the strength of their skills.
“There are 20 amazing students and they are bringing together everything they have for this exhibition of young talent.
“It’s a chance to bring the industry into the College. We’re going to have a high calibre of industry people here so we will provide an example of the strong standard of artists we are capable of producing.
“The students are looking forward to it; they’re really buzzed about it. It will be as beneficial to students as it will be to those in the industry.”
The event will also feature a big screen showing flashing images of students’ work, a canvas graffiti wall and a chill-out area.
City of Bath College’s music department runs a variety of courses in both performance and production and has established itself as the forerunner in music education.
