Media students from City of Bath College have got behind the camera to try to help their peers pass their exams.
Three Level 3 Creative Media Production students have directed and produced a series of three-minute films on exam revision tips for an educational website.
Russell Pittman, Carlos O’Brien and Teeruthpal Singh gave up their time in the summer holidays to gain first-hand experience of working in the studio with a professional actress.
They captured more than ten different videos showing the actress giving revision tips, such as a colour-coded revision timetables and combating stress.
Their work will soon appear on the Getting in website and is expected to be seen by hundreds of thousands of students studying for their GCSE’s and A-Levels.
Stephen Newall, Managing Director at Getting in, said the videos would be an “invaluable addition” to the Bath-based website which supplies students with educational and careers resources.
He said: “We very much appreciate the help of City of Bath College students, they were true professionals. I’m glad we had this opportunity to work together.
“The students didn’t just film the videos, they did everything. They helped set up, directed, filmed and edited the films and should be very proud of their work.
“Their short films are going to be very useful to thousands of students, I’m sure they will be very popular on the website.”
Media Course Coordinator James Purslow said it was a great example of how the College worked with local organisations to give students moving image experience.
He said: “The students gave up their holidays to come in to College to work for a professional organisation and learn on-set skills.”
