Firefighters had to cut a man out of his car after a serious collision outside Lansdown Golf Club yesterday evening.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to Lansdown Road at around 8.06pm, finding the scene near the bend by the Blathwayt pub.
An Audi A3 and a 4×4 had collided on the stretch of road, with the driver of the Audi remaining trapped inside the vehicle.
The trapped person, a man in his 30s, was cut from the vehicle using specialist cutting equipment and removed the driver door and a portion of the roof.
The Great Western Air Ambulance’s Critical Care Team used their specialist Air Support car to assist at the scene.
He was rushed to the RUH by land ambulance suffering suspected back and arm injuries.
The driver of the 4×4, a man in his 40s, was uninjured in the collision.
Locals have expressed their concern for a long period of time over the safety of that area of Lansdown Road.
